Certe ἀ ποφράδων ἡμερῶν, dierum nefastorum, deserte meminit in hoc negotio Plut. in Alexandro, Βουλόμενος, inquiens, τῷ θεῷ χρήςαςθαι περὶ τῆς ςτρατείας, ἦλθεν εἰς Δελφοὺς καὶ κατὰ τύχην ἡμερῶν ἀποφράδων οὐςῶν, εν αἷς οὐ νενόμιςται θεμιςτεύειν, πρωτον μὲν ἔπεμπεν παρακαλῶν τὴν πρόμαντιν. ὡς δὲ ἀρνουμένης τῶ προϊχουμένης τὸν νόμον, ἀυτὸς ἀναβὰς βίᾳ πρὸς τὸν ναὸν εἷλκεν ἀυτὴν. ἥδε, ὥςπερ, ἐξηττημένη τῆς σπουδῆς, εἶπεν, Α᾿νίκητος εἶ ὦ παῖ. τοῦτο ἀκούςας Α᾿λεξανδρος, οὐκ ἔτι ἔφη χρῄτειν ἑτέρου μαντεύματος, ἀλλ᾿ ἔχειν ὃν ἐβούλετο παῤ ἀυτῆς χρησμόν. Quae causa movit Cresconium, quare Decretales Pontificum Romanorum Epistolas, quae a consulendo originem habuêre, inter Canones retulerit primus, illisque sic auctoritatem Canonicam conciliaverit, quae antea cum reliquorum Episcoporum Responsis pari passu ivêre. Ad quod exemplum postea, in Orientali quoque Ecclesia, Responsa Patriarchalia, valere, adservari et colligi coeperunt; imo et ad instar Ecclesiae Occidentalis Codici Ecclesiae Orientalis subiecta sunt adnexaque, ut videre est ex editione Parisiensi A.
